The advancement of technology has promoted the level of die-casting mold products to be greatly improved in recent years, and the trend towards high-end development is more obvious. Some die-casting mold products have reached or are close to the world’s advanced level. Among them are the giant die-casting molds with a single set of die-casting molds weighing 120 tons, and ultra-precision die-casting molds with a processing accuracy of 0.3-0.5μm, and a service life of 300 million ~ 400 million times long-life die-casting molds, high-speed precision stamping die-casting molds that can be matched with 2500 times per minute high-speed punches, multi-functional composite die-casting molds that can realize multi-material and multi-process forming, complex die-casting molds that can achieve intelligent control, and so on.

However, from the perspective of the production and demand situation of die-casting molds, the supply of medium and low-end die-casting molds has exceeded demand, while the self-sufficiency rate of high-tech die-casting molds represented by large-scale, precise, complex, and long-life die-casting molds is still low, only about 60%. Most of it still relies on imports. At present, plastic die-casting molds account for the largest proportion of the total sales of die-casting molds, accounting for about 45%; stamping die-casting molds account for about 37%; casting die-casting molds account for about 9%; other types of die-casting molds total about 9%.

In addition, as the automobile industry that uses the largest amount of die-casting molds, it is expected to grow at an average annual growth rate of about 10% during the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period. Rail transit, aerospace, new energy, medical equipment, building materials and other industries will also bring a huge market for die-casting molds. For example, for medical equipment, my country currently only accounts for 2% of the world’s share. The consumption ratio of medicines to medical equipment is only 2.5:1, while that of developed countries is 1:1. The average annual consumption cost of medical plastics in the United States is US$300, while China only has RMB 30 shows the great potential for development.

In the international market, due to the continuous increase of labor costs in industrialized developed countries, they are forced to continuously transfer die-casting molds to developing countries, especially those with a better technological foundation like my country, in order to reduce production costs. The trend of multinational companies coming to my country to purchase die-casting molds is still under development, and the development of international emerging markets is also promising.

However, in the development of the market, the requirements for die-casting molds are increasing. For example, emerging industries such as automotive lightweighting, smart forming, new energy, aerospace, biomedicine, rail transit, smart grid, etc. are all national development priorities during the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period. The die-casting molds needed for these priorities are naturally die-casting. Many of the development priorities of the mold industry require new development, and many technologies need to be broken through. It is necessary to use this as a breakthrough to drive the improvement of the overall level of the industry.

The service life of die-casting molds in my country is low (the life of fine punching dies is generally only about 1/3 of the advanced foreign level), the long production cycle, poor quality reliability and stability and other long-term problems that have plagued the development of the industry need to be resolved in the next step. At the same time, my country also has a large gap in research and development capabilities, personnel quality, basic theories and technology research on die-casting mold design and manufacturing, etc., which has caused a slower pace in the development of new areas of die-casting molds and the development of new products. The proportion of high-tech die-casting molds is much lower than that of foreign countries (about 60% abroad, less than 40% domestic).

It took us more than 10 years for the export of die-casting molds to exceed US$100 million, and it took 7 years to develop from US$100 million to US$1 billion. Now the export is close to US$2 billion. It can be said that my country’s die-casting mold industry has a considerable foundation. .

However, if the base is large, to achieve the goal of doubling exports in five years during the 12th Five-Year Plan period, it is necessary to actively cultivate export bases and key export enterprises. Of course, expanding foreign trade and developing exports is not only to achieve the export goal of 4 billion US dollars, but more importantly, to achieve integration with the international market through the completion of this task, to promote my country's die-casting mold technology and the comprehensive level of the industry. improve.
